How do I build a social calendar from a question map?
Pull a handful of unanswered (or newly covered) buyer questions for the week, assign one primary intent per day, draft in voice, rewrite per platform, then schedule—and leave empty slots for timely Grow posts. A question map stops the calendar from becoming random tips that collide with pages you already published.
Turn questions into week slots
Start from the map—not from a blank Canva template.
- Filter rows marked missing, thin, or covered this week that still need social promotion
- Pick 3–5 questions that matter to pipeline or support load (not twenty)
- Assign each to a calendar day as the primary intent
- Note whether that day is blog+social or social-only
- Leave at least one flexible slot for Grow / news / community replies
Example week (illustrative):
| Day | Primary intent (from map) | Channel focus |
|---|---|---|
| Mon | Covered Q → promote refreshed page | LinkedIn + X |
| Tue | Missing Q → social-only tease / ask | Instagram + FB Pages |
| Wed | Thin Q → blog refresh ships | |
| Thu | Covered Q → different cut / proof | X |
| Fri | Open Grow slot | Best channel for the moment |
| Sat/Sun | Light or off | — |
You do not need every platform every day. Native connects today cover X, LinkedIn, Facebook Pages, and Instagram—pick where the audience for that question actually is.
Phone can capture the week’s shortlist; desktop can schedule. Shared artifact: the map + calendar intents.
One intent per day (and per post)
Collision is how calendars waste clusters:
- Monday LinkedIn answers “what is voice cloning for social?”
- Tuesday X accidentally answers the same question with a conflicting metaphor
- Wednesday blog publishes a third version under a vague title
Rules:
- One primary intent per calendar day for your main brand voice (exceptions: truly separate profiles)
- One primary intent per post—a carousel that tries three FAQs is three posts wearing a trench coat
- If two map rows feel similar, merge them on the map before they both hit the week
Agency note: Client A’s Monday intent and Client B’s Monday intent can both exist—different profiles, different maps. Do not blend voices to “save” a slot.
Blog days vs social-only days
Not every question needs a new URL the same week.
Blog (+ social) days
- Primary Q is missing or thin on-site
- You can ship a real opening answer + H2s
- Social promotes the durable URL after (or with) publish
- WordPress category = exact existing term or Uncategorized (WP Connect 1.1.1 never creates terms)
Social-only days
- Q is already covered on a strong page—promote or add a new angle without a duplicate URL
- Q is conversational / poll / soft ask that doesn’t deserve a permanent page yet
- You’re warming a topic before the long-form refresh is ready
Mark the day type on the calendar so writers don’t accidentally draft a second thin blog for a social-only slot.
Rewrite before it hits the calendar
Never paste the same caption across platforms and call it a plan.
| Platform | Rewrite toward |
|---|---|
| Longer narrative; one clear takeaway; professional context | |
| X | Shorter beats or a tight thread from one H2—not the full essay |
| Caption + visual plan; don’t assume text-only carries it | |
| Facebook Pages | Page-native length and CTA (Pages—not personal timeline) |
Workflow:
- Draft the core answer in voice (from archive + brand rules)
- Produce platform variants before you lock time slots
- Human-review claims—no invented stats, no fake images
- Schedule only variants that still share the day’s primary intent
- Link back to the owned URL when the platform and context fit
If you draft Threads-shaped copy for later paste-out, treat it as a shape, not as a claim that native Threads connect/publish is available today.
Leave room for Grow posts
A calendar filled 100% with AI-planned intents is brittle. Leave white space for:
- Replies and quote-posts that earn distribution
- Product moments and launches
- Community questions that weren’t on last Friday’s map
- News you should acknowledge without turning the blog into a rumor mill
Practical buffer: keep at least one prime slot free (or lightly held) each week. When Grow content wins, update the question map if a new durable Q appeared—don’t only celebrate the spike.
Brand rules and approval still beat speed. Agent Mode waits until the calendar’s quality bar is boringly consistent.
