Can I use my own AI model instead of the cloud?

Yes. The PostMimic desktop app for Windows writes posts with a local Ollama model on your own computer, using your voice and brand rules. On Mac you can write posts with Ollama, and on iPhone, iPad and Mac you can write with Apple Intelligence on the device.

Local AI only runs while your computer is awake and Ollama is running. Cloud schedules always use PostMimic Cloud.

What runs on your own model today

You can use your own AI model in these apps.

On Windows, PostMimic is an Ollama social media app for the draft. The desktop app writes posts with a local Ollama model on your own computer, using your voice and brand rules.

On Mac, you can write posts with a local Ollama model.

On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, on-device Apple Intelligence is private AI for social media posts.

In the desktop app you can also bring your own model: connect any OpenAI-compatible server. Settings asks for the endpoint URL, an optional API key, and the model name.

What still uses PostMimic Cloud

Scheduled posts and publishing use PostMimic Cloud.

For the writing itself, your own model is an AI post writer without the cloud. The schedule still runs in PostMimic Cloud.

How to connect Ollama

Install Ollama, leave it running, and choose it in PostMimic.

On Windows, open the desktop app and choose Local AI (Ollama). If Ollama is not found, install it from ollama.com and click Detect. PostMimic lists the models Ollama already has.

On Mac, start Ollama. In Settings, Local AI (Ollama) shows whether it is connected, the Ollama address, and Refresh. When you write a post, pick a model from that list. After Ollama is connected, you can pull a model from the same Settings section.

Apple Intelligence does not use Ollama. On iPhone, iPad, and Mac it is on the device for writing posts.
